Know all the advantages of porcelain insulators

Aug 05, 2022

  • Compared to polymers, the electrical resistance of porcelain is much higher: 25+ kV/mm vs. 20 kV/mm in polymers. Porcelain insulators in dry state as an electrical insulating material have better electrical properties than polymers. The electrical type tests show better results, giving longer useful life in terms of loads generated by electrical loads and other temporary electrical phenomena.
  • Porcelain insulators have proven to have a higher resistance to surface degradation, they do not degrade or char during loads; the conductive path is created very slowly compared to the surface of a composite insulator. High thermal resistance, ceramic withstands temperatures up to 1000 °C: the surface is resistant to any type of degradation within the temperature range. The surface is stable against the effects of UV radiation.
  • Porcelain insulators have a wide field of application: contactors, disconnectors, transformers equipment, capacitors, grommets also with end surface, atypical insulators (filters). Characteristics of high plasticity during production, precision grinding possibilities, as well as carburizing and bonding with excellent mechanical properties allow a wide range of shapes to be created and used for any type of application.

  • Ecological. When it is time to remove them, porcelain insulators are not hazardous waste. They are made from natural materials through simple mixing and curing; they can be stored in landfills with other waste and, additionally, they can serve as recycled material to produce ceramics and other similar products.
